Dude! It’s me Skippito!! And a FREEBIE too!!

I LOVE Skippyjon Jones!! I always do a book study when we are learning about Cinco de Mayo. I love him so much that I ventured out to find clipart to create a unit but couldn’t find ANYTHING ANYWHEREugh! So………..drum roll please.I drew my own! Gasp!! I know, just when you thought my awesomeness had maxed out. Bwhaha!!! (Totally just kidding...maybe!)

I think I am in love with this want-to-be Chihuahua. My kids love him too. I am not going to take all the credit either just because I have an awesome Spanish accent that make this cat cooler than cool. J

Seriously, I never create units during the week. I may tweak them or fix a typo but I mainly work on the weekend. Hello! I am flipping tired after teaching kindergarten all day, lol. J If my precious darlings at school don’t suck the life out of me tire me out, my three teenagers finish the job as soon as I get home. Isn’t that just sweet?!

I started working on the new unit Tuesday night and finished it Wednesday night. Seriously, barely slept. I was on a skippy high!! Eating beans and everything. Well, that’s not really true but it added a dramatic flair didn’t it? I would have posted it on Thursday but when I got home from my Bunco group Thursday night, I passed out. Home at 9:15 p.m. sawing logs at 9:30 p.m. I posted it last night. Whenever I post a new unit, it is always on sale for half off during the first hour but you have to follow my facebook to get the announcement. Love facebook!!

Here is a preview of my new unit: Skippyjon Jones & Cinco de Mayo. (click the pics to see more) It's on sale right now!! Did I mention how excited I am about this? Do you love Skippyjon Jones? Do you have a crazy accent?

As always, here is a freebie for your downloading pleasure. It would make my day if you would follow my store when you download it (just click the picture). J Let me know what you think of my first crack at clipart. I only drew Skippyjon though. The rest I purchased. Now I am no artist so please be gentle. I’m sensitive. And on hormones. And crazy. .Just kidding!! Not really. J Hahaha!

Oh, and let me tell you my latest drama before I get off this blog thingy. I was on my way to work Friday morning and one of my besties texted me that our school had flooded. She teaches 3rd grade. Um, hello, doesn’t she know me? I was about to go into a panic attack on the high way in Pearl (my Mazda 5, yes she has a name and I love her!). I called her immediately (bestie, not Pearl...are you with me?). Me: Um, hello, you can’t text a sistah something like that! She said that her hall and the 4th/5th grade hall had a foot of water. OMG! K/1 hall was in the clear. Water hadn’t made it down our way yet thank God! Most of our stuff is on the floor.

Seriously, they would have to come pick me off the side of the highway and bring a paper sack for me to breathe in then have the crisis management team shoot me with a tranquilizer gun. Okay, that’s a tad dramatic but if my thousands of dollars worth of crap fun got ruined, I would be so upset. So, our school will be turned upside down for the next few days while they repair the damages and I will do whatever I need to do to help out. J This included donating my room to forty stinky third graders while my kids were at activities today. They had just gotten back from a field trip and were a tad ripe.  J My district moved really quickly so hopefully this will be fixed as fast as it happened. These are the days of our lives.. haha!

I have 23 more days of school but who’s counting? That would be ME! I love, love, LOVE my class this year but I am pumped about this summer. All my bags are packedI’m ready to go.to Frog Street Press Splash, I Teach K, and Blogher! Yes my friends, I will be a travelin fool. Who’s with me?????

And last but not least, here is a funny for you. I LOVE this. Have a great weekend!!

  1. hahaha Crystal!! That is awesome! (The video...not the stinky 3rd grader part, hehe, we all know how that goes!) Our school had a STAAR pep rally on Monday and did a rendition of this song, too - teachers dancing and lots of hilariousness! LOVED it!

  5. I love, love, love SkippyJon! And my kiddos do, too! I have some VERY high first graders....do you think this unit would be beneficial for them? Or is it mainly geared towards kindergarten?

Either way, it looks great, and you did an amazing job! I had been on the lookout for clipart as well, and hadn't been able to find anything. Do you think you will be selling your clipart?

  9. You are so entertaining. Seriously, though, I don't blame you for having a panic attack. Water and school stuff don't mix well and you put your heart into everything. Glad you weren't affected by the flood. Renee

  12. Skippyjon is my favorite! I brought a friend's Siamese kitten to school when the book first came out a few years ago and told the kids it was Skippyjon Jones. They loved "meeting" the real Skippy!
I have to comment on the video--I work with the teacher who created it, Reagan Tunstall. She recruited several of us and our kids one day after school to film it and we had a blast. It was a nice surprise to come across it at the end of your blog!
