Summer Happenins and a Good Find!

Greetings friends! How is your summer going? Are you out of school yet? I am but I technically worked three days this week writing science curriculum for my district.  It was a hot mess but I am really pleased with the results. I am SO EXCITED about our Texas blogger meet up this Saturday. Are you coming?  I have no idea what I am going to wear (well, flip flops are a must). I did get my eye brows waxed today because I feel like I might make a better impression if there were two..haha! On the not so brighter side..I now have wax in my hair. How the heck do you get that out? Stuff like that always happen to me. Yes, I am a lucky girl (insert sarcasm here).

So, let’s talk about this summer. I want details. What are you doing? Where are you going? Is it creepy that I am nosey? J  Haha! Are you attending any professional developments? I will be at Frog Street Press SPLASH in Dallas and Houston and I Teach K in Vegas. You should join me at one..because we are fake imaginary real friends, right?! Maybe we should start a contest to see who can meet the most people this summer. Wouldn’t that be fun? Too Crazy? Ok, scratch that idea.

So I have been working on stuff for next year. I am only in week one of summer vaca and my brain is on overload.  There are so many things I want to create and do. I am also going to participate in THE DAILY 5 book study that my blogging bestie, Tammy, at Live Laugh Love Kindergarten is hosting soon. I am so excited about this. Next week we will be on vacation and the week after that visiting family out of state.  I knowsummer vacation vacation. Say that ten times fast. Haha!

I will still post during my travels but I also have a few friends that will drop by and share great center ideas with you while I am gone. We will focus on ELA one week and Math another. I am excited about this. I hope you are too!

I am meeting with my team tomorrow to start working on next year. We are working on our over achiever status. J I am so excited because I printed my TeacherPlanner for each of them; put them in a notebook with nifty new pens and pencils. I love surprising people with stuff. J AhhhI love the smell of organization.

I thought about waiting to post this until the morning but because it is summer, I can schedule it for when I am actually writing it because it is ok to be up at 1:00 a.m. J

I finished my Dr. Seuss and polka dot classroom theme sets. I am working on pirates and rainbow colors right now. I will do beach and rock star after that. J Here they are if you want to take a peek.

On a not so teacher note..are you watching the Bachelorette? I am not sure if I am digging this season. Thoughts?

Also, Tammy just told me that Kohls has some of their Kohls Cares books and character on sale on their website. You can get the Brown Bear hardback book for $2.50 and the bear to go with it for $2.50. Sweet! Here is the link and the pic. I hope you grab it before they sell out. (BTW, I am not asked to promote this just think it's a great teacher deal!!).

  1. I added your button to my "Amazing Blogs" gadget on my blog! I love what you post, and I'll be participating in the Daily 5 Book Study too! (On top of a grad class! YIKES) Still disappointed I can't make it Saturday! What is Frog Street Press, exactly?

  6. Today is my last day with my kiddos and then post planning on Monday and Tuesday. I am actually sad to see it end! However, I am glad to have the break and can't wait to start making new stuff for next year.

I will be attending a Common Core Standard Convention in Orlando from the 18-21st of June. My district has selected me, as well as 7 others to be a "Common Core Expert" for our district. Apparently, this will be four days of intense common core training. Then, I get to come back and work with other teacher's in the district on implementation.

Other than that, we will be doing vacation bible school at our church the next week, then Fourth of July (at Daytona Beach-we live extremely close by), and a week at Disney World in July.

That pretty much sums up my summer. I am hoping to throw in a last minute cruise in there with my kiddos. We live 45 minutes from Port Canaveral so it is quite easy to just hop on board. We are a family who always keeps our passports up to date. :)

Thanks for asking...have a terrific summer and I just love reading your blog. If you are ever in Florida, let me know. I would love to meet you and chat sometime.

    :) Ann

  7. I got my eyebrows waxed yesterday too. It was my first time in a long time. But I'm getting married in a little over a week and thought 2 eyebrows were a must. My fiance was with me and he told me I looked like I had been punched in the face. They still hurt. Sounds like you have a busy summer planned.

  8. Last day of school with kids is June 14 (it's a half-day), work day on June 15, then my summer break begins. Flying from Germany to US for a visit and Frog Street Splash in Dallas--so exciting! I'm already planning for next year, too, and it's one of those awesome summers when I can actually walk into a Target so it's going to be amazing!!
